Sailing in the Dominican Republic

Cabarete, North Shore, Dominican Republic April 2, 2009 -- Cabarete's first luxury brand, Palmera de Cabarete Resort & Spa, puts wind in the sails of Laser sailing with its 2009 sponsorship of Master Sailor Ari Barshi, founder of Cabarete's Laser Training Center and the annual Caribbean Laser Midwinter Regatta, the official opening event of the Laser racing year. Barshi and his sailboat will wear the Palmera de Cabarete logo at 2009 Laser regattas in Florida, California, North Carolina, Massachusetts, Spain, and Canada.

Palmera de Cabarete Resort & Spa opens in 2011 on the Dominican Republic's north coast in the town of Cabarete, the "adventure sports capital of the Caribbean."

Cabarete has gained preeminent stature in the Laser sailing world due to the quality of Barshi's Center, as well as to the range of conditions for both champion and novice sailors.
The waters off Cabarete Beach are protected by a large reef, perfect for beginning sailors who come to Cabarete for the variety of adventure activities - surfing, kiteboarding, mountain biking, hiking, and canyoning. Beyond the reef, the wind and wave conditions are ideal for hardier sailors.
